A coat of arms can be used to identify an individual person, they are traditionally used by individuals to seal important documents, for example, legal papers. Their use spread out to be used in the military, education and other establishments. The shield in the middle is used to differentiate an individual within a family‘s coat of arms. Here I have replaced the shield with a mirror to allow the coat of arms to ‘belong‘ to the person that is looking at it at that particular moment in time. I have used the Royal coat of arms as a silhouette as it is one of the few coats of arms that is regularly seen in use today, for example, in Royal warrants, etc. This modern take on the traditional coat of arms would be laser cut from wood, possibly walnut or beech.
