Come Dine With Me, Not The TV

Hypothesis

Response

It is widely acknowledged that the dining table is an important place for the socialisation and civilisation of children, and meals around it play a fundamental role in teaching them how to behave properly. Unfortunately, in today‘s society the traditional role of the dining table is declining as families increasingly feel the need for a dual income, which results in less time to prepare and enjoy family meals. I have designed a takeaway food packaging system that aims to encourage the family to get back around the dining table and away from the television.

The bag unfolds into a tablecloth by simply pulling the handles away from one another, leaving the packaged food, wooden plates and cutlery neatly presented in the centre of the table. The food can then be enjoyed without the need of preparation or washing up, leaving the family free to socialise with one another.
